The Bush administration Thursday gave its assessment of the 100 days since September 11, a period it said has produced "an unprecedented coalition against international terrorism." In a 25-page report titled "The Global War On Terrorism: The First 100 Days", the White House said President Bush has implemented "a comprehensive and visionary foreign policy." The report cited military, diplomatic, and humanitarian accomplishments abroad and domestic measures dealing with homeland security and aid to families of September 11 victims.

Capitol Hill workers get anthrax vaccine
Dozens of Capitol Hill workers have begun receiving an anthrax vaccine, authorities said Thursday, even as federal health officials acknowledged they were providing no clear direction on who should seek what is basically an experimental treatment.
Tuesday, the government announced it was making the vaccine available for those people who felt they were still at risk for developing the disease. Federal health experts, however, did not make a recommendation on whether people should take the vaccine. They also offered an extended, 40-day treatment of antibiotics and said individuals could simply decide to monitor their own health without taking any further treatment.

Elijah Wood: I only recently read 'Rings'
Wood plays Frodo Baggins, the hobbit whose journey is at the heart of "The Lord of the Rings." The three-movie production took 16 months to film.
Elijah Wood says he didn't read J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" series until he arrived in New Zealand where the movies were shot.
"I read 'The Hobbit' when I was young and I owned 'Lord of the Rings' for years without reading them. They sat on my shelf. I attribute that to laziness," he told reporters recently. "But I didn't actually pick them up until I got to New Zealand."
The first film in the series, "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring," opens in theaters Wednesday. It also stars Sean Astin, Ian McKellen and Viggo Mortensen.
Wood's previous films include "The Ice Storm" and "Deep Impact."
